Prison
Good morning everyone! It has been a while since I have posted a new blog. In the past six weeks, I have been to a Novel Marketing conference and learned a lot about marketing that made my head spin. Fortunately, I now have connected with wonderful ladies. We can encourage each other, make sense out of methods, apps, and other ideas that are hard to grasp. And did I say encourage each other? That is the message of hope, isn’t it?
Last week I learned that my book, House of Cards, has found it’s way into a women’s prison. When I heard that, I sat down and cried. Never, in a million years, would I have thought that God would use my book in such a way. My simple little story will hopefully bring – not only entertainment – but hope and encouragement to women who are tucked away from society, their families and friends, their children, and their homes.
The things I learned in my conference were designed to help me get my book into the mass-market. Blogs – like this one – social media presence, newsletters, lead magnets, merch, collaborations, ARCs, launch teams, and other devices are all necessary to accomplish that goal. And would I be happy if you shared this blog with others? Absolutely.
I may never make a best-seller list, or sign a deal with a major (or minor) movie production company. But when I hear that God has allowed my book to be placed in the hands of women who seemingly have no hope – well, it simply blows my mind. I mean, wow.
The book of Philippians, in the Bible, is a book of joy and hope. But did you know, Paul wrote that book while he was in a Roman prison? In chapter 1, verses 13-18, he physically describes being in chains. Then he goes on to exhort and encourage his friends in Philippi.
So, even though you may be struggling with serious life issues, think on Paul’s words from Philippians 4. He doesn’t say your problems will be miraculously fixed. But he does say that the peace of God will see you through it.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Be blessed,
Rena
