Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
I hope this change in calendar finds you happy and healthy. 2024 was challenging in a lot of ways for many – including my family. But when I reflect on my successes, I realize I had a lot of achievements.
I published my first book, House of Cards! That has been a dream for many decades, and the timing was finally right. A great idea fell into my lap thanks to the ladies’ Sunday School class at church, I had a lot of impressive support and encouragement from many, and my husband was a perfect research partner and cheerleader. If you haven’t already read it, you can find it online at Amazon and other major book sellers. Or, look for me at a festival or book signing.
Along with publishing my book, I created a publishing LLC – Pixley Knob Press. This allows me to keep my finances separate, which is important for tax purposes. Just call it Housekeeping.
I worked with the fabulous Jessie Ford of UntetheredDesign.com to create and launch my website! She made the process so easy, and it was definitely worth the investment. Now that it is live – and you are reading this post – I plan to grow the website with resources for my Hope page, and a new blog a couple of times a month.
What’s Coming in 2025?
A lot of people have asked me, “When is your next book coming out?” I confess, I’m not the kind of writer that can churn out several books per year. I believe in taking the time to develop the characters as well as the story. And the process of marketing my books is something I need to learn. Which is why…
…In January, I will be attending a Novel Marketing conference in Austin, Texas. Even traditional publishes want their authors to have a vehicle for promoting their books in place. As an independent author, it is critical. But I am not a salesperson. So I am looking forward to working with others who can teach their skills to me.
In February/March, I will be selling/signing my books at the LM Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival. This festival is local to me, but draws over ten thousand attendees from many different states over two weekends. If you are looking for something to do the last weekend in February or first weekend in March, check them out and while you are at it, stop by my booth and say “Hi.”
More is coming, including a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, for a bit of research. I’ll just leave that right here as a teaser.
Be Blessed,
Rena
